We got recently Respawn Anchor which let's you set your spawn in Nether, but it's limited by amount of Glowstone you put inside of that Anchor.
There is a group of people which didn't liked the introduction of beds because it made first night in Minecraft essentially very easy. All you need to gather is 3 wool and 3 wooden planks.
While beds are not necessarily a problem, here is my suggestion to make it slightly more balanced:
What if Beds had limited uses, and we could add those uses by putting more wool into be Beds similarly to how we use Glowstone for Respawn Anchor?
This is how I imagine it working:
When we craft a bed, that bed (unlike Respawn Anchor) will start with 3 uses.
There would be 4 states for bed:
1-3) All of those states will behave like normal beds, but difference between then would be in textures, each showing less and less organized bed, maybe a bit dirty, maybe a bit worn out...
As you might already guessed - more worn out and dirty (or just less organized, less "clean") bed will have less uses.
4) In this last state, bed will be in the worst visual state compared to other three. Not only that, but it will also be unusable - it would not set your respawn point or let you skip a night.
In order to restore uses for bed, you have to try to use bed while holding a Wool block. Color would not matter in any way.
Each Wool block would restore 1 use for the bed and you can fit maximum of 3 uses per bed.
You can use your bed on Skipping nights, or on Respawning to that bed.
