Okay hear me out before just screaming its cheating or exploiting.
I and many other players plunge countless hours in this game mining, exploring, beating dungeons, and I barely have anything to show for it and now my resources are depleted and I have to regain those resources just so I can go out and repeat the process. Some may say "this is the point of the game and if you don't like it don't play it" but the point is it takes hours to progress just a little. In addition to the dungeons, water temples are too common and you can't even go near them at a low level they need to be a little rarer than they currently are.
Okay back to fish farms. I work for hours with little to show and now resources are depleted. Fish farming helps you progress enough to conquer the previously mentioned dungeons. And besides, they don't give you diamonds. Another problem is that the enchantments you can get are way too rare by playing naturally effectively limiting the player's ability until after hours of exploring they finally find a good enchantment book.
as a solution, many options could be considered besides outright making them not work. Some options include, increasing rarity of good enchantments or enchanted items (although this entirely negates the purpose of the enchantments for the fishing rod), I'm sure the community has other solutions but I have one of my own. You could limit the enchantments you get until receiving certain achievements like entering the nether, or something.cht lim
