Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Soul Roots / Baked Soul Roots

Right now, the Soul Sand Valley is less than ideal to survive in. There's no source of food and a lack of building materials, so I suggest adding Soul Roots. Like gravel and flint, it has a chance of dropping when breaking soul soil. These Soul Roots can be cooked in a furnace and made into Baked Soul Roots, which can be eaten. This would dramatically increase the value of the Soul Sand Valley, due to how few food sources are in the Nether currently.

     I like the idea of adding something to the soulsand valleys. i havent playd alot in the betas, so correct me if im wrong, but the soulsand valleys dont really have a reason for you to go in them. It would be nice to have some sort of payoff for traveling the dangerous terrain. Good idea!
