This armor type would give players an intermadiate-level of protection in the nether, and could be crafted using quartite ingots, which are made from a mixture of gold and nether quartz. This armor would be more durable than iron armor and would provide a similar level of protection, perhaps lightly more.
While netherite armor is crafted using netherite, the player also needs diamonds which are found in the overworld. Having an advanced armor type that does not require resources from the overworld could give the nether move of an independent crafting tree and make if feel like players can more sustainably live there.
While gold armor can be sustainably sourced from the nether, gold armor is quite bad, and the durability is abysmal. Quartite armor provides a much needed, indigenous sourced step up from gold armor.
