In cave systems, more block types should be able to collapse like gravel and sand, but behave like scaffolding. They should fall and suffocate entities when interacted with, but can hover if supported correctly. I suggest cobblestone because, by definition, it's loose rock. Because cobblestone is usually player-generated, this hypothetical feature would mostly be used in player mines rather than natural ones. However, other types of blocks could be used as well. The wall supports present in natural mineshafts imply the threat of cave-ins. Perhaps ore veins weaken the walls and ceilings of a mineshaft?
