Since Crying Obsidian is only used for the respawn anchor at this point, maybe you could replace the corners of a nether portal with crying obsidian and left click it with a dye to change the color of the tears on the block itself and the nether portal. It would be useful for people with large nether hubs (like from their base to a village or a wheat farm) because they could color code their portals. You would just have to put crying obsidian in the corners of your portal and dye them. You could also (potentially) dye them multiple colors for more options. For example, if I wanted the portal to my base to be turquoise, I would dye one of the corners blue and another green.
