Most biomes in the Overworld have some sort of minor variants (The birch forest has a hilled, tall, and tall hilled variants), so I say why doesn't the Nether biomes have some? These are called the flat variants, which are called that because they never generate land over around 10-20 blocks above the lava oceans, excluding the material by the bedrock ceiling. They still generate as normal otherwise; The Crimson and Warped flats still have trees and fungi, soul flats still have fossils, and the basalt flats will still have Blackstone and basalt spikes coming out of the lava. The flat wastes will have flowstone on the ground, due to how it only generates higher up. As an added bonus, the forests will have a flat plains variant, where they have trees far and few between.
