Strider Moccasins

The Why: Dimension content Equality, Variation in armor choice.

The Concept:

The concept for this Armor piece is the same concept that forms the turtle shell and the Elytra.
  Much like the turtle shell these Moccasins would be a collectible amour piece with minimal but effective "buffs". You  can obtain the best armor in the game in every dimension but only in one can you farm and obtain turtle shells, and in  only one can you explore and obtain elytras. Now to balance it out I present the Strider Moccasins!

Crafting Them:

  • In order to craft a set of Strider Moccasins you will need:
  • Leather (or a yet to be determined Item) for the nice and comfortable belt (^),
  • A Netherite Ingot for a shiney belt buckle ($),
  • Obsidian to keep your toesys from getting too warm (#),
  • and Magma Cream to make sure your using Nether Approved foot care (*).
  • You would craft them like you would craft a pair of pants, like so:----->      ^ $ ^

While wearing the Moccasins, you would insert them into the "Pants slot" of    *    * your armor interface, because of this you would not be able to wear boots or pants, limiting there usefulness.
 When wearing these Moccasins, much like the water breathing effect of the turtle shell, you will be given fire resistance  for a small amount of time (15 sec), you will also be given increased movement speed while in lava.

    • The armor value of these moccasins would not be as weak as leather but not as strong as diamond, I propose around the Iron level seeing as it does require a Netherite Ingot to craft but no diamonds.

    Enchantments:

    • Mending
    • Unbreaking
    • Lava Walker
    • Lava walker would simply just extend the amount of time you could stand in lava, it is not indefinite though, so you'd better find land!
    • level 1 would add 2 seconds (17 sec overall), level 2 would add 7 seconds (22 sec overall), level 3 (the highest) 15 seconds added (30 sec overall)

    However this is ALL subject to change if mojang accepts this idea.

    The Advantages:

    • 1) Adding a way of safety when someone falls into lava, all you have to do is take your pants and boots off, equip these moccasins and vwualah  you've escaped impending doom. 
    • 2) This would add a balance to the overworlds "special armor" as well as The Ends "special armor" (the elytra) and allow more exploration and intrigue into making armor and choosing your sets.
    • 3)In the building community this would allow easier maneuverability in the Nether for builds on lava lakes.
    • 4)It can be crafted from things you can already find in the nether, therefore requiring a little bit of exploration, adventure, and a bit of risk.

    The Disadvantages:

    • 1)It is weaker than diamond and netherite armor so you are more vulnerable to attacks.
    • 2)With the factor of being protected from lava for a limited time, when the time runs out the moccasins burn up in the lava when you die.
    • 3)Since they are made from leather they're durability is not the best, the only way to remedy this is unbreaking and mending.

    This could be made on the loom possibly alongside other leather items and I think to make these moccasins it should use Strider string as thread to keep the leather pieces together.

    I think it would be batter to just make a pair of boots that could float on lava, with the drawback that while you would stay on top of the lava, you would still take fire damage. then you would still have to use existing potions, but it would make building I the nether a lot easier

    The reasoning behind the short fire resistance time: is yes you could just use a fire resistance potion, when you use the turtle shell you dont need it cause you can just use a water breathing potion, but the reason for having the turtle shell is because of the benefit of not having to use your resources/waste them in order to save yourself a little longer underwater time.

    • The main benefit of the moccasins is the fact that they allow you to be more maneuverable, as well as the potential for a wider spectrum of armor choices, for example (again) the turtle shell or elytra are just an expanded version of whats already in the game (levitation/slow falling/ender pearls basically ways to "fly", and water breathing).

    It would be far to out of balance for the game to introduce an item that gives you permanent fire resist aswell as increased speed while in lava, there needed to be a counter balance so that this Item is not over powered, thus the short fire resist time, I have also included the option to increase the time you have fire resist(if mojang sees it fit to add it)

    I think it should allow you to walk on lava, but very slowly, like you're sinking in soul sand. The moccasins shouldn't let you burn if they keep you afloat on the lava - after all, the striders don't burn.

    This wouldn't eliminate the use for fire resistance, as you still can't enter the lava to search for ancient debris

    It could slowly sink in the lava if you don't move with them and once the lava gets up to a certain level on your body, you start to burn normally

    No, I would prefer something that allows you to actually walk on lava.
