Oh i forgot! The reason i shared this was because i think that nether mobs should have weapons that come from the nether. I think it would make the most sense as they can't go to the overworld.

I like this idea, because the crossbow is the pillager's. But I think that the arrow should remain the same. Maybe it would do something special, like do extra damage in the nether but a small amount in the overworld

The feather item could be Strider hair. You shear it and you get the achievement " smooth like a babies..."

They should not only a nether crossbow, but an obsidian sword as well.

They should add steel into the game

A nether crossbow would be good, but since its made from nether stuff it should have stronger durability and be heavy so you are slower.

Actually, you can get everything you need for a crossbow in the nether. The trees of course would be your source of sticks, and when you kill a strider you get string. You can also get flint from the gravel found in the nether as well. Since piglins can open chests (not a feature actually in game but they get hostile if you open their chests so it is implied that they can) they could steal the iron from the fortresses. if you think about all the materials in the nether, you could most certainly make a crossbow in the nether.

Dork1Muffin, when you find a nether fortress you can find loot in the chests which means that Piglins never looted them. While i was playing the snapshots i never seen piglins have their own chest. Also, im talking about the getting the materials naturally from the nether.

Edit: just realized you were talking about the newest one, but i still think that it would make sense for a nether only made crossbow.

Potentially a way to include this would be to add a form of 'flint' to the nether, to explain how the piglins get arrows, and make the tripwire hook craftable using gold. This would likely fix this issue!

I’ve been thinking of an idea for a weapon called the “Crimson Hammer”. How ever I cannot post my idea because it is too similar to the war hammer idea, but my crimson hammer would be a weapon wielded by either the Piglins to replace the crossbow, or The Piglin Chief, if there ever is one, as its primary weapon. The enchants for this weapon are “chilling force” which does more damage to nether mobs, and “light Handel” which decreases the charge up time for the crimson hammer since it is a fairly slow weapon. It has the same durability as the trident, and cannot be crafted. It does 10 attack damage, with a slow recharge time, slower then the trident. It cannot be enchanted with any other weapon enchants, but can be enchanted with unbreaking and mending. As for design, I’m not sure. I was thinking of the hammer itself to look like it’s made of Netherite, and the Handel can look like the crimson stem texture. And there can be a gold line around the middle of the hammer as like a support, or a tie tying it to Handel. But this is just my idea as either a weapon replacement for the cross bow, or a primary weapon for the Piglin Chief, if there ever is one to come. (I am writing this comment as if the 20w16a snapshot).

There is also no “natural” way of getting iron from the nether. I do not count looting nether fortresses as “natural” because, where did the fortresses get the iron. If there was a mob that dropped iron nuggets, or a nether iron ore (which I don’t like the idea of), or a way to craft iron nuggets from something.

I mean iron isn't natural in the nether but you can still make a crossbow. Also the complete update isn't done yet so who knows. They may add a mob that drops iron or iron nuggets. Also catcagames there is natural spawning gravel in the nether and if you mine gravel it has a chance of dropping flint.

It seems like a nether-friendly crafting recipe for crossbows might do the trick.  I have trouble agreeing with new weapon suggestions while the combat system is as in need of rebalancing as it currently is.

Fortunately, combat is currently receiving the attention it needs so I may change my mind about this in the future.

Just being stronger and doing more attack damage is good

Or it could be crafted from gold ingots nether wart and golden tripwire hook.

Along these lines, what if the piglins use special gold ore which makes better gear?
