The Mourning Fields is a new eerie and depressing biome located in the Nether. The ground and celling are made entirely out of Blackstone. It would have a eerie Purple fog similar to the Warped Forest Biome. Gilded Blackstone is also very common in this biome. The most unique feature of this biome are the large jagged monoliths made of Crying Obsidian emerging from the floor and celling of this biome in various sizes. The biome would also have a few patches of soul sand located randomly in the biome. Many strange and upsetting mobs such as Ghast, Skeleton Horses, and Killer Bunnies would spawn in this biome. A few new mobs would be found here as well. The Mourning Fields would be a new eerie and creepy biome to add into the Nether. This biome was inspired by a place of the same name in the Underworld of Greek Mythology which was a place reserved for souls who wasted their lives on unrequited love.
The biome would have a appearance based on this concept art for the Arctic Spires for Subnautica Below Zero. However instead of the ground being made of snow it would be made of Blackstone and instead of spires being made ice, they would be made of Crying Obsidian. Also those spires would drop down from the celling.
