With the Nether Update bringing wood into the nether, i would like to make a suggestion for it. First i think it should have a lifeless ‘rocky’ shell covering the log. Why? Because the Nether has a harsh environment for plants, the shell is made out of dead cells because of the heat [It would technically be processed wood]. This shell can be peeled using an axe like other logs. But the wood will burn without the shell in the nether, fine in the overworld though. Peeling the log will drop 4 to 8 Reneth Splinters. These splinters can be used as a one time weapon hit and its stuck and slowly drains your hp for 5 sec it also can be used to craft fire resistant versions of existing blocks. Maybe using the useless blocks? But i think it should not change the appearance of the block because it would consume time and be thrown out. And also i think it would be better. If you want a newly textured fire resistant block you would use Reneth out of the box. You just want to reinforce a block so it can’t get burn. Like wanting a wooden house but it isn’t fire resistant so you need to use stone. It would fix that.
