Tumbler

The Tumbler would be a neutral mob that spawns in caves, It has two ways of wandering.

Just... Regular walking 
The Tumbler walks around at a somewhat slow pace, taking wobbly steps.

Rolling
The Tumbler tucks it's arms and legs into it's body and rolls around, Any mobs or players that walk into a rolling Tumbler will be damaged.

 

Defense method
The Tumbler defends itself by rolling into the mob or player that attacks it.

How to kill
The Tumbler can be damaged with the regular weapons, But pickaxes would be more effective, When killed they would drop 1-2 cobblestone.

 

Variants
The Tumbler could also come in ore variants, Coal, Iron, Gold, Emerald, Redstone, Lapis, Diamond, Etc. these variants would have a chance of dropping their ore when killed, though they would be rarer than the regular Tumbler, based on how rare their ore is.

Below is the model I made to show how I imagined the Tumbler looking like.

    I love it. MC Escher did something really good once to deal with the same sort of issue: "The Pedalternorotandomovens Centroculatus Articulosus (curl-up) came into existence (spontaneous generation), because of the absence, in nature, of wheel shaped, living creatures with the ability to roll themselves forward." 

    I agree. There need to be rolling creatures.
