With the new Basalt Delta biome added to the Nether and all the new polished basalt blocks, it seems like some Nether city/town ruins are just meant to be. These ruins would generate in the Basalt Delta biome and would be made out of Polished Basalt. They could contain some chests with similar loot tables as Nether Fortresses or entirely new loot tables that reflect the city's past inhabitants. These ruins could also contribute to some Nether "lore" if you will... maybe the Piglins used to live in these cities before they were driven out from the volcanic eruptions that destroyed them. The Nether, though intentionally desolate and uninhabited, has needed new structures for years, and ruins would be the perfect way to implement them. They wouldn't add too much life to the Nether but give players even more of a reason to go exploring deep into these new Nether biomes.
These ruins would be made up of many more buildings than this, but they would follow a similar theme. As you can see, the ruins would be covered in basalt, magma, and flames. Like underwater ruins in the overworld, the chests in these would be found under the mounds of basalt inside the buildings. Below are a few examples of what some Nether ruins could look like...
