There should be a new block called Bait. It will be about the same size as a cake, and there will be three different types of Bait. Meaty Bait, Seedy Bait, and Grassy Bait. When you place the bait, either nearby animals, depending on the type of bait, will come and start eating the bait, or the bait will have a chance of a corresponding mob spawning at the bait depending on the biome. Both functions would be okay because they both serve the bait's main function, which is an easier way to get animal food sources, because for me, it's hard to find mobs to hunt. Meaty Bait will lure in carnivore animals like wolves, foxes, cats, and ocelots. Seedy Bait lures in birds, like chickens and parrots. Grassy Bait lures in pretty much every other animal that eats crops like pigs, sheep, cows, and horses. The crafting for the baits will be as shown as below.
OOO
OXO
OZO
O = nothing
Z = Coarse Dirt
X is different for each bait. For Meaty Bait, X = any raw meat. For Seedy Bait, X = any type of seed, and for Grassy Bait, X = wheat. The Bait won't harm the animals anyway by itself, and it will just bring in animals.
The Bait will be a great feature for Minecraft because
a. It creates a way to quickly find animals
and
b. it gives the coarse dirt a special use.
