Nether Portals Pull You Towards It

 Since the idea of the Nether is surrounded by fear and misery, why not have the nether portal slowly but surely try and pull you into the nether. This idea will make the nether portal itself a lot scarier and would definitely make you want to stay away from it until they have the right tools for it.

    maybe when you light the flint and steel it has a 5 second cool down so you have time to get away

    Staying away from it is trivial since Nether portals aren't naturally generated. And would being pulled in be that big of a deal anyway? I guess it could be a problem if there's a Ghast right there which immediately shoots at you, but I don't remember that ever happening to me even when properly equipped to handle it.

    Naturally generated portals have a netherrac layer underneath. It follows that the portal is PUSHING this rock out of the Nether.
