Simple idea to the game : which already exist as a texture pack, however I feel that it would be more than a good idea to add this feature because it makes the game more realistic and could help players out. Summarized by three basic points that just make sense.
- When your tools get damaged it doesn't make sense for the integrity of the tool to stay the same, when it's 50% deteriorated shouldn't we see some visible change to the actual item?
- When you're scanning through items/holding them at times you miss the bar and they break on you! I know this sounds ridiculous, adding this feature would make you more aware of whats happening in the game and let you experience a more realistic game. I know you thinking, Minecraft isn't realistic,I would argue that old updates to the blocks including block color/design for more realism is enough to justify that tools should follow suit
- -Lastly,you see friends quality of their tools, this could indicate that you could be nice and give them a tool or prepare to take on more mobs when you see their struggling because their tool just broke
|OPTIONAL UPDATES
- At least in Java Edition, the damage decreases but not by much, maybe by .25 for each tier of deterioration, maybe out of four stages of an item getting to a point where they die. So when your weapon is about to break, your attack will be 1 less
- Enchantments|More valuable,unbreaking delays loss of damage
- If the item is enchanted when it's about to break(full black bar)it turns from purple tint > red
