Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

People have always questioned the existence of ghostly or similar supernatural entities that live in the world of minecraft because there is skeletons and zombies. This would probably be the best we'd get since actual ghosts would offend players who are religious and frightened easily. This fits within minecraft too, it'd be cool to have another minion like a golem.

I would love to see it as an actual block with it's design

Maybe a golem made using one of these would be hostile to you

Personally I'd rather just have it as a decorative block. Adding a soulfire torch to a carved pumpkin to make a soulfire Jack o'lantern seem really obvious (until you realise it's not currently an option)

If it had any additional functionality (besides being a lower light level) I think that should emphasise the eerie and imposing nature of the block. Additionally it would be a neat extra layer to the "mobs wear pumpkins on halloween" easter-egg currently hidden in the game.

The idea sounds good. But maybe it would be better if the mob kept the soul pumpkin on it, or for it to fall out of the process and the mob's eyes shine with the blue light of the souls inside. This mob would be faster and stronger and would certainly have a better drop. For example, from obsessed wither skeletons, there would be a better chance of dropping the skull (so you have a reason to do something like that at all). After you kill the obsessed mob, a cloud of souls would appear around it, which would melt away after a while.
