Respawn Anchor should let you keep your items

As of 20w12a, the Respawn Anchor feels kind of useless, because it is only used to set spawn in the nether. Instead of using this block, people could just have their spawn next to a nether portal. I think that when you have your spawn set on the respawn anchor, you should keep your items and XP when you die. This would make traveling far away less worrying, and make playing the game in the endgame less scary. However, it would have a higher cost than just glowstone. The cost should be a Netherite bar, and 8 levels of XP. The respawn anchor could still go up to 4 charges. I think that this change would be really cool and make the risk of losing all your items in the endgame to random things less.

    two things:

    1. if the respawn anchor were to keep your inventory it would make the game less suspenseful since you wouldn't really have to worry about dying.

    2. the bed is a respawn point. So basically what your saying is that beds are useless too.
