Minecart "cowcatcher" ( pilot, in railroading) (feedback link)

-First, a little introduction:
 
There is a mechanic in Minecraft that prevents mobs from crossing the tracks. However, this mechanic sometimes doesn't work well (maybe hardly ever). So, I think that would be easier to program a new item that allows minecarts getting out of mobs.
 
-How to solve this? With a new item, the "cowcatcher":
 
Cowcatchers (AKA pilots, cattle catchers or cow plowers), are devices that are mounted at the front of a locomotive to get out of any possible obstacle that can make the train derail. So, minecarts with this object would damage any type of mobs that cross the tracks, preventing the annoying situation of minecarts inverting their direction and returning.
 
This new item would be combined with any type of minecart in a crafting table. The cowcatcher would be crafted with a slime block and arrows.
 
if any of you have a better idea for the crafting, I'm all ears :)

    The railway engine can be a good decoration even if it cannot be used as a tool.

    I think that maybe it wouldn’t be a crafting thing, but instead something which fits in with the current minecart “caravan” type system. There could be an alternative minecart type which pushed entities away, maybe even relative to the amount of force carrying it forward if multiple minecarts are behind it.
