gravel should be removed from the nether

every block in the nether is thematically alien and colorful making gravel clash with the existing palate, It would be cool if it was replaced with a new type of soul soil (perhaps orangeish in tint to gel with the color of lava) that would be slippery (similar to ice) rather than slowing them down, this would both work with the existing color palate and add a new danger while traversing the nether

    Gravel is basically there to provide a source of flint

    gravel is there in case a ghast destroy the portal so you dont get trapped there

    through with the new update coming out you could just live in the nether

    I agree, gravel isn't necessary anymore since you can use fire charges to reactivate your nether portal if a ghast destroys it and you can get fire charges by bartering with piglins
