In version 1.9 we've had a lot of pvp changes: Meelee weapons such as swords, axes (and pickaxes and shovels) started to have specific delays in order to do great amounts of damage. So it was like their weight started to be considered!
Why not doing a similar thing to armor? Where, instead of damage, we involve the agility, (and knockback)!
Lets make an example: there are two player fighting: one is full diamond armor while the other one has less armor, or an armor weaker than the diamond ones. The first player will obviusly have more resistance than the other but it will have less agility than the second player wearing weaker or less armor; also it will have less knockback effect than the other one. To be more precise, with agility I'm not considering just the "walking speed" but also the "attack speed".
So to be short: the weaker/less armor do you have, the faster you will be, but when you take a hit, you will receave a certain amount of knockback according to which armor are you wearing or if you are wearing an armor.
In my opinion this changes could lead to new pvp strategies - "sacrifice a little bit of resistance to be faster"- that could let become the game more interesting so that even some server could finally update to the recent ones (as far as I know, a lot of server have remained in the 1.8 version).
