When you are swimming or in a boat, the water starts to vibrate, making a Redstone signal to the vibration detector block. It could make the water around you light up or it could set a trap.
If you place a vibration detector under a grass block, it can set off a trap for any mob walking nearby.
Here’s how it works. Put the block under, for example, a grass field. The vibration detector automatically detects vibration over 25 blocks around it. When placed underwater, the vibration can be on the block or on the water. When a vibration big enough is sensed, it automatically sends out a Redstone signal to all of the blocks next to it.
To avoid making vibrations, crouching will decrease how much you make.
Map makers will probably find this feature useful for horror maps.
