Perhaps stripping logs should drop a bark item (new item), which can then be crafted into paper similar to sugar cane, or maybe combined with water similar to concrete making. The bark should have alternative uses, such as combining with a shield to give it the Thorns effect or crafting it with a paper and a dye to create a bark rubbing (piece of custom art displayable in item frames).

I like the idea, but I think that 2-3 pieces of paper are a little too much, especially since there are so many trees in naturally generated terrain. I believe that there should be a chance for the bark to drop one paper. I am thinking 1 in 5. Another option is to have the stripped log always drop one piece of bark, which can be crafted with two others to make one paper.

That would probably be too op. Tbh it would be nice, but im not sure it would make a major difference, it would make building a bit of an issue though, maybe use a different tool for paper then? Or use the wood in a different crafting table for paper would seem to be a more plausible option

definitely too op as is, but its a good idea. I think it should be limited to birch trees, which drop papery bark in real life. right now they are the most useless type of tree/biome, and this would definitely be a good way to make the birch biome more desirable.
