Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

    Throw the items on the ground to smelt them? It's too hot for water to exist or sponges to stay dry so dropped items that come from the overworld should insta smelt when dropped in the nether

    1. There's blackstone, which is the Nether equivalent of cobble, you can make a furnace with that. 

    2. There's wood, like you said. Use it for furnace fuel. 

    It is 100% possible to cook food independently in the Nether. If you actually use your brain, that is.
