This request concerns the lore of minecraft. It is strange to me that the nether and the End, two seemingly unrelated places, share so many bothersome connections. Here's a full list:
- The color purple (nether portals, main end palette)
- Obsidian (portals and end pillars)
- Blaze powder (eyes of ender)
- Brewing stands (in the end ships)
- Ghast tears (ender crystals)
I'm okay with the ghast tears because the end crystals are clearly a sort of biological 3D printer used to build and heal the enderdragon, and ghasts and crystals share a highly explosive nature. It makes sense for the endermen to have harvested essence from the ghasts to build them. But all the rest of these connections seem strange and redundant. The obsidian just isn't a big deal.
The color purple can easily be dealt with - simply change the color of the nether portal to orange or red. This is a big change, and most of y'all probably won't like it, but hey, I really hated the new apple texture and now I'm over it.
Of course, the blaze powder in eyes of ender is intended for game balance, not for any mythological reason. This makes sense now, but if more dimensions start to pop up, it will seem like a rather connection to new players. I suggest an alternative method of testing a player's resolve, within the overworld.
