(20w06a) Basalt Bricks

Now that basalt was added in the newest snapshot, I think the possibility to craft basalt bricks (../stairs/slabs/walls) would be a nice addition.  This would give the new material some purpose and allows builders to finally have a blackish brick type block at their disposal.

    We definitely need a black brick variant. Block of netherite is far too expensive.

    Or lots of basalt brick block and wall / slabs and stairs through the grindstone.

    With a unique shape too. Maybe it's like the smooth stone slabs except rotated 90 degrees.

    Yeah I agree. The bricks we already have either is hard to get it you need to smelt and use alot of coal. Would also fit for a scary theme

    A dark gray brick variant would definitely add to the building palette... i would suggest treating it like stone. 4 basalt = bricks, and from there craft those into slabs/stairs/pillars or whatnot.

    it would add a much broader 'use' for the basalt block, and give another big reason to go exploring the nether (the point of the update?) if you decide to create a build from it...

    I think treating basalt like stone would be best. Smelt it into a smooth/refined variant and then craft that into bricks. The smooth basalt could be used in world generation too. It seems like the nether update world generation changes are kind of finished though but a black brick of some kind would be highly appreciated.

    basalt bricks would be a cool block to have, looking like bricks but gray, would give many more options on top of the new nether blocks we got in the last snapshots

    I think the basalt brick block would look good if it was gritty. We have to many really clean looking brick blocks.

    This shade of grey brick is one of the things I've been wanting for the past year. I hope they do add some. But I hope they make them similar to normal brick blocks instead of something like stone brick blocks.

    Black bricks would be amazing for building due to a good contrast of colors. also add basalt walls.

    Honestly, the lack of basalt walls and slabs surprised me because I took for granted we'd be getting them. It's a cool new type of stone—this seems like a total no-brainer!

    I also agree with those who want a more "Brick-like" texture—the basic Brick block has a lovely fine texture, but its color can be jarring. Having a less saturated block with a similar pattern would be wonderful!
