Netherite Tridents

I think the trident should be upgradeable with netherite, because it would help to maintain balance between the three major melee weapons. If the trident  doesn't get a netherite form, fewer people would use it, since it would, as previously mentioned, be far weaker than the sword or the axe. Like all netherite tools, a netherite trident would get +1 damage, 33% more durability, be more enchantable, & not be destroyed by fire or lava.

    I agree. I was thinking about how in common lore of "hell" demons carry pitch forks which are almost like tridents

    I mostly disagree, the trident is a unique weapon, and it is much better with range. All of the trident enchantments are for range and I don’t think it should change

    Yes I was just thinking of this while playing the Snapshots and I really want to maintain the balance because I love the Trident so much! Great idea!

    I think it would also be interesting if a netherite trident with riptide would allow you to launch yourself foward when in lava, on fire, standing on magma, or much less likely the nether or other certain blocks.

    Maybe it would be a separate drop all together? like a pitchfork which is dropped from an equivalent mob to drowns in the nether. Could even be guarding something... O_O oh snap. Amidst the beauty of the new nether, there should be something to make it seem more like hell. How about little devils with pitchforks that assail you as you traverse the warped landscape.

    Good idea.
    I think it should have 500 duriblity and 10 melee damage and 9 throwing damage
    (250 more duriblity and 1 more attack damage.)

    A netherite trident NEEDS to be in game. I think it should have a fire catcher enchant that allows you to catch ghast and blaze fire balls and fling them back or at other mobs. It would be a treasure enchant.

    It would be cool if you can swim in lava with the Netherite trident. Maybe making an enchantment similar to Riptide but instead call it Magma Flow.

    if this got added what it would do is when u throw it it shoots lightning bolts where ever it is and its fire proof

    It'd be a great feature to see in the game! After all, a netherite trident with twice the durability of a regular one and +1 melee & throwing dmg would come in handy whilst fighting mobs unaffected by impaling (or those that for whatever reason can't be struck with lighting with the use of channelling e.g. in the nether).

    I agree.The trident should also have a fire attack,so when the trident is thrown or used to hit another player or mob,it will set them on fire without any enchantments required.

    I think that when a piglin falls into the lava lake instead of simply burning to death it should turn into something of a "burnt piglin" similarly to how when zombies drown they turn into drowned and sometimes carry trident. The "burnt piglins" might carry a netherite pole arm, this pole arm would behave similarly to a trident and could be used in melee combat or thrown. This would make the great lava lakes more difficult again and considering that there are no mobs residing in the lava, besides striders, this would be a wonderful way to add to the nether. With tridents being such usefull, and favored weapons among many players I think that adding a new type of trident-like weapon would be a major upgrade for the nether and minecraft overall

    I agree with your opinion.  If this was added, it would be cool if it had a feature where aggressive mobs and players who are attacked with a netherite trident would be given the effect, weakness.

    100% agree. It would also be cool, if for a short time when holding it, it granted you a small amount of fire resistance, or something to make it easier to manoiver through lava. It would be useful if you were working in the nether, then suddenly fell in lava. You could grab trident in your hand and be granted a small burst of fire resistance to get out of there. Great idea!

    If I were a dev implementing this item into the game, I'd call it "Devil's Trident" and change the "Channeling" enchantment to "Flame Burst," or something along the nature that fits an enchantment name, and instead of striking lightning, it would leave a fire trail after being thrown (purely cosmetic) and it would light anyone struck with the thrown trident on fire.

    I think just the durability increase, tiny damage increase, and ability to float in lava would would be fine for something like this, though I do like the idea of some kind of fire particle trail or something. Hmmm.

    It may be pushing it, but if we went down that trail of fire particles route, perhaps we could get a treasure enchantment obtained from the nether that would give it some kind of "flames" style enchantment when thrown. It could leave a trail of fire or blue soul fire type particles when thrown and ignite the target with normal or blue flames on impact, depending on what kind of enchantment was ultimately chosen by the devs. When thrown under or into water, instead of a flame trail there could be a smoke trail or soul particle trail, like the flames were being quenched by the water. Additionally, the enchantment could be mutually exclusive with Impaling or Channeling. (This would also give a chance to add a blue on fire effect for when you're lit on fire by soul fire. :P)

    with this you could keep the original trident as unique and a water item. and the new one as a nether fire item.

    if you upgrade the trident to netherite, you cant have riptide or chanelling, but it can have flame (ranged attack) and fire aspect (melee attack).

    they should add Netherite tridents, and looting enchatment for them, loyalty III a little bit faster, and would be the perfect weapon for short and range.

    What if adding Netherite to a Trident changed it into something else entirely? Call it a Pitchfork, like the Devil carries maybe?

    This way it can have different enchantments based around movement in lava and others for damage with fire maybe...

    Because the trident is a ranged weapon, a damage increase could cause too much of a problem in PvP, so instead it could lose its ability to be thrown in favor of a sort of damage range increase due to the longer nature of it compared to a sword and/or add a lunge like the Riptide enchantment, but for lava.

    What if --- instead of just gaining extra durability fire and lava resistance, this Netherite Trident can get the ability to pierce through enemies? Or something of the sort... To be honest, Tridents are amazing in their own way, but there should be a way to make them more durable, and having a Netherite upgrade would surely add more toughness and durability to them.
