First of all, please don't misinterpret the title. I am not suggesting that the Nether be made easier.
When you're hunting in the overworld you find quite a few very easy-to-kill mobs; zombies, skeletons, spiders, creepers (debatably). There are also some harder to kill ones; phantoms, endermen, witches, angry dolphins. In the Nether, however, there aren't really any easy-to-kill mobs in the same way the Overworld does. Zombie pigmen don't hurt you unless you hurt them. Wither skeletons, blazes, and ghasts are all relatively strong and hard to defeat and, in comparison to zombies and skeletons in the Overworld, are pretty rare. This is great and all, but the problem is that, the vast majority of the time, you're either fighting for your life amidst 5 blazes and 20 wither skeletons, or strolling through the nether with no mobs except passive undead pigs in sight.
So I suggest that there be some weaker and more common mobs added to the Nether. Maybe something like fire lizards that have 10 health, deal 4 HP of damage, light you on fire for 3 seconds, run quickly, and are resistant to fire/lava. Nothing super difficult, just enough to keep you from relaxing while in the Nether. And it/they should be a bit more difficult than zombies and skeletons because, well, it's the Nether.
