I've been thinking about a mob that can inflict blindness for a while and came up with this:
- it can fly/hover
- it shoots straight fast beams,which inflict blindness and can't be blocked by a shield. You get a chance to dodge
- it glows in the dark and has a small damaging aura around it
- it's immune against attacks from the back and resistant against melee
- it spawns in it's own new dungeon and spawns randomly below y64 if your insomnia LV is high
- mobs blinded by the beam lose their abilities. e.g. skeletons won't shoot properly
- it drops an ingredient which can be used to create potions of blindness resistance
- 9x of the ingredient create a concentrated version, which can be used for a potion of transcendence. The potion needs a "obscure potion" as base, made with phantom membrane. The potion allows the player to leave his body. the players body will stay where it's been left, getting hit or moved in any way nullifies the effect. During the effect you can't interact with anything but can move the camera freely
- a boss version of it is found in the dungeon. Their beam can also inflict burning,torpor(slower attack speed) or curse(lowered armor,strenght). Also their aura expandes further the lower their health gets, making it hard to kill with melee attacks only. If it's attacked with melee too often it enters rage mode(beam can destroy blocks, it's faster)
- using eyes of ender has a low chance of spawning it.
- it's beam lights up the area which daylight sensors can observe
