Yes, we need an official randomizer.

It would make more sense to have it be 1?5 instead of 1..5 in order to avoid confusion. Also, why just stop there with scoreboard commands when that can be implemented with other commands?

This is already a feature on Bedrock, meaning it will most likely be added to Java edition anyway sometime in the future. Besides that, Java already has tons of ways to do randomization, including the new option through predicates (the days of using loot tables and various items are already gone). So it's honestly not even necessary and won't be much of an issue if it doesn't come to Java.

I would find it more usefull if the range could be choosen using other scoreboard players!

@ Mince Rafter 1, Well the point of them adding that would be to make things a lot more intuitive. Not adding that because we can technically already do randomization through more difficult means is like saying Mojang shouldn't add functions into Minecraft all because we can already make stuff with command blocks. It's just best if they scrap scoreboard random and replace it with the scoreboard ranges that this person is proposing. Remember command stats? Guess what? The original way of doing command stats was replaced with a better method in 1.13+. So replacing scoreboard random with ranges would be an excellent and far better idea.

Yes, Bedrock Parity in this regard would be really nice. The current ways of doing it are not very straight forward.

And I guess allowing for a "?" syntax or something similar in other commands like give etc would be really nice, but having a random number generator in the first place would already be a good step.

@Luggibumm: You can still do that using a little bit of math afterwards, so just allowing us to use fixed values is good enough.

It would be awesome to have a random number generator built into the game! Lots of uses!
