Simple idea. A bee nest is not a very accurate term and minecraft has in the past not been afraid to stray away from terms that might teach people what things were called - the word furnace was not always common knowledge. I feel like it is a missed opportunity to use the correct name for the apiaries and the bee nests really are just beehives.

We had a really interesting conversation about this during the snapshot period in which fellow community member En _ really elegantly explained it so I am reposting that here.
"Not to be that one guy, but the names are accurate as they are right now. Hives are the man made-version, while nests are the natural form.
"A beehive is an enclosed, man-made structure in which some honey bee species of the subgenus Apis live and raise their young. Though the word beehive is commonly used to describe the nest of any bee colony, scientific and professional literature distinguishes nest from hive. Nest is used to discuss colonies which house themselves in natural or artificial cavities or are hanging and exposed. Hive is used to describe an artificial, man-made structure to house a honey bee nest."

Also, Apiaries aren't the proper term for beehives either. Apiaries are the area in which beehives are kept, not the hive itself.

Furthermore, an apiary may refer to a hobbyist's hives or those used for commercial or educational usage. It can also be a wall-less, roofed structure, similar to a gazebo which houses hives."
