Three out of Minecraft's four major hostile mobs -- Zombies, Skeletons, Spiders, and Creepers -- have some sort of variant form, except for the Creeper. I think it's about time that a new Creeper variant was added to the game.
My suggestion is that Minecraft adds a variant of Creeper that appears in the Mesa biome only. The idea is that the Creepers there would have skin with similar properties to ceramics, allowing the Creeper to blend in with its environment. These Creepers would also make a clinking sound similar to that of breaking pottery when hit/killed, leading to Mesa Creepers potentially being nicknamed "Clinkers". In addition to this, the interior of the Mesa Creeper is much hotter, which makes its explosions similar to those of fireballs.
The Mesa Creeper would most likely drop gunpowder and maybe some clay (since its exterior is ceramic, which is basically fired clay). However, I could also see it dropping fire charges instead of gunpowder as well.
