In 1.16, the Nether will be receiving biomes, two of which are the Blue and Red Netherwart Forests. These forests bring new vegetation to the Nether, which should fit with the rest of the Nether, being surreal and unwelcoming. In addition, the Nether should be harder to survive in than the overworld. That's where this suggestion comes in.
The Hand Rose is a new flower that spawns in the red and blue Netherwart Forests. It has the stem of a poppy, being either blue or red depending on the variant of Netherwart Forest you're in, and the head of the flower looks like a player's arm. When you get within a 1-block radius of the hand rose, it grabs on to you, making it so the player can't move, although they can still use items, like swords, bows and shields. To stop being immobilized, you must whack the hand rose twice, and the rose will break.
This adds depth to the Netherwart Forests, since a player who needs to move around would need to pay attention to their step, since being held by a hand rose would make them an easy target for hostile entities to eliminate.(By the way, the rose needs to be whacked twice just so that players don't just flee from scenarios like the one described above, while just randomly whacking these flowers to break them and remove the threat instantly.) This plant would also be good, since it would serve as a new mechanism for PvP. Often times, PvP devolves into a game of one player chasing another mindlessly, and that's it until one of them needs to eat. With hand roses being a thing, a player running form another would have to worry about whether or not any hand roses are nearby to snatch them. Also, as I said before, the Nether is a very strange and surreal place, which the vegetation of the Nether should reflect quite well. Minecraft is a game with simple things that players can then use in unique and more complex ways, and the hand rose is a great example of this. There's probably even uses for it I have yet to think of!
