What if it was the glass texture with the some of the faces from the soul sand. This would be great for the nether update

I've seen a couple of suggestions for a glass analogue of soul sand before, so here's some of the properties I've seen suggested for it that could be added to the post:

    - The block could be either transparent or opaque, depending on whether or not it receives redstone power.

    - The block could be solid or intangible, depending on whether or not it receives redstone power. This could be used to stop water from flowing into a space that you still want entities to access (would be useful whenever the block-fluid split is completed and water can flow through stuff like fences)

Perhaps one of these qualities could apply to soul vitric and the other could apply to a block smelted from the new soul sand like block shown in the trailers?

What about this new glass being one way glass, so you can only see in from one side depending on which direction you place it?

What if when a redstone signal is passed through the vitric it retains the signal until another signal is passed through it. It could turn slightly red and emit a low light level

Oh heres an idea for detale
If the soul sand was cooking/smelting in a furnace instead of the texture being orange-ish yellow it should be firey blue.

My version of this idea is smelting Soul Sand in a furnace results in Soul Glass. This glass allows the player to see through the block on front of the glass. This would be especially useful in the Nether, as normal glass's blast resistance is minimal. One could place cobblestone or obsidian in front of the Soul Glass to protect from Ghast fireballs. Of course, the glass couldn't be transparent, so looking through Soul Glass looks like the player has the Blindness effect, or similar. The glass would have a blueish texture, in keeping with the 'Soul' theme.

Yes. We need a way to make glass, or something like glass in the nether. Or maybe it could make a one way glass block. Only transparent on one side

This would be so sick! Maybe the glass can still have little textures of the souls but they're transparent.

i think that the block could be used for creating a new weapon, a glass ball that will use glowdust or blaze powder as proyectiles and dealling double damage to nether mobs

I'm thinking that it should not let light through, so it can be used as something to view the inside of mob farms, while still keeping them dark.

The Furnace fire should also turn blue like soul torches and campfires

What if the glass glows like soul sand fire

I was going to suggest this myself. It should be craftable into panes that are equally blast resistant! I dislike the particles being emitted from it, however. They’re obtrusive to the view.

I think the ability to craft mirrors out of a soul sand block ( or like mirror glass panes )  would also be a good property

this, but instead its modified glass texture to act as decorative glass, with each color having different glass pattern, similar to glazed terracota

Rather than giving this glass a different texture, could this instead make a tinted glass? where you cant look in on one side ( this could just be dimmed, or completely obstruct a players view) and could be normal/ coloured glass on the other side
