Holding out the enchanted shield for three seconds will deploy three hovering, translucent shields, one to your left, one to your right, and one behind the player.
These shields will move with you as long as you continue to hold out your shield in front of you.
After one of the translucent shields stops an attack in its tracks, that individual translucent shield will blink out of existence, once again leaving that side exposed.
All translucent shields vanish if your actual shield is not in use.
To redeploy the translucent shields, you must pull back your shield then hold it forward for the allotted time once again.
Again, keep in mind that you can still easily be hit from the top or bottom, that using your shield still slows you to a crawl, and that you must expose yourself entirely before redeploying the full effect again. Crossbows with the Piercing enchantment still bypass these translucent shields. You are not invincible.
