    > Java software isn't compiled for any specific architecture. Just get jre/jdk on your arm linux, and find old minecraft java launcher, or try for example to build multimc for arm :)

Yes, I have tried that. It's true that Java is architecture-independent, but Minecraft relies on C++ code (for OpenGL or something). The furthest I get is the old launcher, and MC won't even launch.

I think an ARM release would work wonderfully on a Raspberry Pi computer

Minecraft Java Edition (full version, not Minecraft Pi Edition) has been available for several years now on the rpi. I got it working on my rpi3 with just a few scripts provided by very friendly people on XDA forums, a simple Google search would yield that. Now the script assumes you're using an rpi, and doesn't work with my chroot Ubuntu 19.10 installation on Android. I'm going to modify the script and see if I can get it running on all ARM archs and post my results here.

Ok so I'm getting close. Tha old launcher is opening and that's the easy part that others have already done. The problem is that this launcher is using a nightly version of LWJGL 2.9.4. This is from 2015, and the nightly servers for LJGWL version 2 are down, meaning you can only get versions 2.9.3 and earlier, and of course version 3 and later on a newer website. Not only that, but LJGWL only recently (September 2019) released binaries for arm32 and arm64 on Linux, in version 3.2.3 (the newest stable build as of writing). Since LJGWL changed so much, these are completely incompatible. I honestly don't even know how the script writer got arm32 versions of 2.9.4 .so files for the rpi. I'll have to look into where the files came from (the scripts connect to Dropbox addresses) and see if I can either get arm64 versions (for newer android devices), or force Minecraft to use a newer version of LJGWL even with the old launcher.

But that'll be work for another day.

Seeing as Mac computers are converting from Intel CPUs to ARM-based SOCs, making a ARM conversion for Minecraft Java becomes even more important in order to keep the MacOS player base still alive.

Here is how to get Minecraft java version on the Pi, may help other arm deployments.

As long as you have a mojang account.

Please make the Unified Launcher available on the ARM architecture.

Unless there is some method of creating a new Mojang account that I have not come across, it is not possible for new users (i.e. new PURCHASERS) to enter the Minecraft world proper using the hugely popular Raspberry Pi platform since all the currently available workarounds only accept Mojang account authentication.

Since the freely available Pi edition can effectively be considered as a 'free trial', offering the option to upgrade to the full Java version surely makes sense now that the higher spec PI-4s are widely available and very capable.

I just bought a minecraft java edition subscription for my son, only because he would like to use it on a raspberry pi.

And just now, the migration to microsoft account is happening and the launcher for raspberry pi doesn't accept microsoft accounts. that's really a pity. Please help to make the java edition run again on raspi's.

Minecraft Java works on all devices that supports Java, which is almost any device including arm devices.

However mojang is using a launcher that isn't in java + they have dropped support for their legacy java launcher.

In order for a devices with arm to run minecraft java you'll need an arm launcher or java launcher. I would try technic launcher and choose the jar version which is in java.

It's not too hard to foresee the then (2019) upcoming ARM device lineup. The game is Java, but LWJGL relies on some native binaries that for as much as I know aren't available for anything ARM64 but Linux. There's been a year and this is still hanging. How hard could It be? Is Mojancrosoft implying that Java users should be software engineers to be worthy of running the original game? Stop pushing this PiPi edition of MC and fix the masterpiece, the original Java edition really is. At least come up with an official statement and say that you don't care for the original game anymore and want our money the PE is asking for everything with all the microtransactions.
