Silk and Silkworms

Along with bees, silkworms are one of the only insects domesticated by humans and seem like a nice addition to minecraft. The silky cocoons can be found in a certain type of tree leaves and when right clicked with shears will release a moth and drop 1-3 silk. After harvesting of the cocoon, the moth will fly around until it finds another moth and breeding with it to produce 2 new cocoons on the closest leaves. Upon the killing of a moth the player will not receive one experience orb but no other drops.

    You may want to edit your post to just include silkworms. :) Just look for the wheel/cog option at the top of your post and edit it.

    I love this, although I would prefer that Silkworms be added as a new cave mob, and their silk could glow in the dark!

    Actually, a long time ago, during the time of the silk road, silk was good for trade, So it should make you more popular with the villagers.

    When silkworms are mounted, silk and silk thread processed from it are also mounted, from which clothes can be made.

    Love the idea, but think string would work better as a drop. This would be peaceful mode friendly way of obtaining string without harvesting webs from mineshafts. And, spider farms are quite frankly tedious. String is notoriously hard to farm a large quantity of.
