Whenever you make an advancement in Minecraft, you don't really get any kind of benefit for doing so except for some experience. Oh, sure, you found a diamond. Doesn't change the game in any meaningful way, other than you now have a diamond.
If I could add something to Minecraft, it would be in-game benefits for getting goal and challenge advancements. Normal advancements, maybe; though maybe not since those are things you would do anyway.
Say you get the advancement Return to Sender, where you kill a ghast by reflecting a fireball back at it; which it most likely spit at you. Well, perhaps a benefit for getting that advancement would be your arrows go a little bit farther when you shoot them at full pullback; by about a meter or so. Or say you get the advancement Subspace Bubble where you travel 7 km in the Nether. Well, a benefit would be your hunger bar gets depleted less often; maybe each haunch takes an eighth or a quarter longer to empty than before.
Those are just random examples of what I mean. If this kind of thing were to be implemented, instead of getting bits of experience, I think players would be more encouraged to make them than they are now. Hope you like the idea.
