An idea that's been floating around my head for a while has been a cloth update, where more fabric textures besides wool are made available to players. I'll be posting a few of them today, starting with lace.
So, here's what I'd like to see. Lace would be a patterned cloth which could be placed on any surface, much like an item frame. The lace would have all 16 colors, being crafted from wool, and 8 available patterns based on the five banner charges, bricks and vines, and a default pattern. These patterns would be transparent and cover a block with an extra layer of texture, so a red wool block covered in black lace would superimpose the lace's pattern onto the wool block. This would, of course, work on any block pattern that lace could be placed on, so a lapis block with a green globe lace would create a physical globe, for example.
A further addition based on that, perhaps certain lace patterns (for example, Globe, Thing, and Creeper) have a six-sided texture, so that if you place the lace against a block, it shows different faces based on what side it's on (using Globe as my example, we'll say each face shows a different part of the world.) Other patterns may not be as workable for this, for them, tiling may be more useful.
