Parity means making features behave consistently across different Minecraft editions, most commonly between Minecraft: Java Edition and Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. Use this category to discuss released features that exist in both versions of the game but work differently. Please note that bugs are not parity issues and should be reported separately.

They are testing the impaling enchant in a combat test to do more damage if the entity is in the rain or water. This is a good addition because impaling only does more damage to fish, squids, and guardians. Don’t worry this will be in java soon.

I really like the trident and if this parity change as well as the "trident with loyalty enchant is not destroyed if it is thrown into the void, but instead still comes back" parity change make it through the combat tests, it may solidify the Trident as my go-to weapon (when I can get it, as those Java edition drop rates are still abysmal by default, IIRC). Still, yes please!

As it stands, an impaling trident is only useful in raiding an ocean monument.

Outside of this scenario, a bow and sword combo are almost always favourable for combat.

It isn't even effective against drowned as they are considered 'undead' mobs and not 'aquatic'.

damn. couldn't have even made "drowneds" affected by "impaling". If they had just assigned it both categories the comment above this wouldn't've had to add it to the end of it.

Tridents do have an advantage underwater over other weapons- doing more damage at least against submerged entities (If merely touching water was considered too powerful) would be great.
