Seeing the new ‘Honey Block’ gave me a cool idea for shields and blocking projectiles.
Here are my ideas
Slime Shield, for close attacks, your shield will cause them a knock back effect, ranged, the arrow will bounce right back at them. If you fall, aiming your shield at the floor will bounce you up, and you will only receive half the damage (like a bed)
Honey Shield, you can stick players to your shield and carry them for a short amount of time, ranged attacks, the arrow will stick to the shield, and you can collect it. Bees will follow you to take your honey.
Snow Shield, when a player hits you, your shield will freeze them a few seconds. If they shoot your shield, their arrow will freeze, stick to your shield, and stay there, you will not receive any damage. Your shield will melt if you hold it in hot biomes.
Soul Shield, when they attack you, their soul is attatcched to your shield for a short amount of time, meaning if they hit your shield, they will hurt themselves too, you will still receive a tiny bit of damage! If they shoot your shield, they will receive a wither effect. If you have this in an area with a lot of hostile mobs, they have a higher chance of coming after you.
Shulker Shield, if a player hits you, they will float into the air, just like a Shulker effect, if they shoot your shield, the same will happen. Your shield can sometimes open like a Shulker shell, leaving you vulnerable.
Maybe you could use the fletching table to craft these new shields?
