I think the nether hasn’t got much purpose as of 1.14 and netherack isn’t really used in building, therefore is not mined very often unless the player plans on building long nether tunnels. A good way to add more use to netherack would be nether dust that comes from mining netherack. It would be a 1 in 20 percent chance of dropping and if combined with a flammable block in a crafting table it would make the block fireproof. As an example combing a stack of dark oak logs with 1 nether dust would make fireproof dark oak logs. This would open up alpt of creativity in house design as you can make wooden fireplaces or houses that completely fire resistant if they would catch fire. Mabye they could also be slightly harder to break, possibly 20% longer to mine?
