Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Graphite

Graphite can be found as an ore but can also be crafted by coal.

It can be found commonly in layer around 110 in veins

By smelting a graphite in high temperatures (coal blocks,dried kelp blocks etc) you would obtain a diamond

By using graphite and some sticks you could craft pencils which you can also add colors [For example: pencil (green)].

Name tags and signs now require graphite to type but now you can multicolor them.

Every letter that you write removes 1 point of the durability  of the pencil.

    This seems kind of pointless. Them being able to be turned into diamonds, just undermines diamond ore, pencils, I don't think would fit in the game well, and makes ink sacks near useless.
    If there was a way to add graphite, with unique features and mechanics, then I would vote, but this doesn't add any purpose to graphite.

    Well, umm.. It's kinda brilliant and i found that pencil thing to be cool.
    But..you've basically just made diamonds common XD.
    'cause you said that graphite is common in Veins , it can be crafted and smelted by coal (which is just everywhere) to obtain diamonds.
    so basically i just walk outta my house mine a few blocks find a stack of coal within less than an hour
    and boom a walkthrough-supply of diamonds.

    if you can make graphite blocks then that's all I want :)
