These are diamonds found in the nether that are even rarer than diamonds and cannot spawn at surface level. They can be used to form a sword with 16 attack damage or a tool with twice the efficiency as its diamond counterpart. However, each cracked diamond has a “life steal” effect and when holding it it will slowly damage the holder. This ability will increase with every additional diamond and will happen to any tool/weapon/block made from cracked diamonds to a degree based on the amount of cracked diamonds in it. However, this effect will occur even when the diamonds are in chests, slowly rotting (if the slots permit) or destroying organic material. Rotten food/plants will occupy a separate inventory space and can only be used as compost. If all of the food is rotten, the diamonds will sterilize(cannot be used to grow grass or plants on) dirt leading to the chest or killing trees and turning flowers into wither roses or killing passive animals . This life steal will continue in a gradually growing circle until the diamonds are either destroyed or converted, where when a player dies holding cracked diamonds, they heal and turn into regular diamonds. Additionally, cracked diamond tools mend themselves as part of the life steal. When trees die, they loose their leaves and their trunks rot turning them into useless rotten wood. Only logs will rot. The life steal will also kill crops and sterilize the farmland.
