capybara

capybara are a peaceful mob found in wetlands and can be tamed with grass. when killed they drop lily pads. they can be breed with lily pads. when the baby capybaras grow up they drop webbed feet which can be used to make flippers, which speed up you're swimming speed.

    The capybara would be a lovely addition to the game!! It'd probably be very popular with the player-base and the general public alike, since the Internet as a whole has been obsessed with these coconut doggies for years.

    If not just a passive mob that adds to the ambience of swamps and rivers, it would be cool to have it interact with the player in some way, since they are known to be very chill animals. This interaction could even extend to other passive mobs, such as the Sniffer (they do look alike and both have large noses!), rewarding the player with a special item or effect. Also, birds/parrots could maybe sit atop them in jungles if they're laying down and relaxing, as they tend to do.

    As for their behavior, just like in the real world, they shouldn't be totally terrestrial animals, and should maybe spawn in small herds. The capybaras could be bred with any kind of fruit, but especially melons, and they should mate in the water, spawning a cute, small baby capybara. I'm not sure they should be tamable, since they are wild animals, after all, but it would be nice to be able to have a pet capybara in the game.

    As it's probably against some Minecraft rule to gain/obtain anything useful by killing passive, non-"commonly eaten" creatures (eg. dolphin, turtle, bee, axolotl, cat, frog,...), so as to not encourage the player to farm them, the capybara shouldn't drop anything when killed. Plus, the herd should maybe flee into the water when attacked.
