Everything else in Minecraft is able to be changed to the players liking, except for the actual content.
Imagine that a new "update" comes out like the bees, for example. Not all people are going to like the new update so what if they could just take it out of their game or world. I propose a system of "feature packs". There would be a base game of Minecraft probably based of the features of 1.7 or something that would have all the bug fix type updates. All the other features would come in "feature packs" that the player could choose whether or not they wanted in their game. They could choose specific features or entire feature packs when they create a world.
There would be a menu when you create a world that would show you all of the feature packs that could be clicked on to reveal all the encompassing features. New features and feature packs could be added a lot easier and older worlds would be a lot easier to acces. This would also make servers a lot more accessible for the same reason. The server owner could select what features they want on their server.
This could also make mods easier to install, since there could just be "Player Made Feature Packs" that could replace mods. It could also make texture packs a lot easier to install since the textures would be tied to specific blocks and features instead of entire versions of the game.
I would just like to say that I'm writing this from the perspective of a Java Edition player.
