Downloadable Minecraft Source

Why not offer the Unobfuscated Minecraft Source to those who have bought the game? Make it so that you can only download it if you have already purchased the game (if you try to download the zip without being logged in or the game (not) being purchased, it redirects you to the purchase screen). The source code should be licensed under the Minecraft license or a custom license(not open source) that allows modification to the classes(of course let modders release patches of the source code like they normally can do). It would be great for modders because you wouldn’t need to map and patch the source files so that the files can be compiled, letting modders immediately start modding Minecraft!

  I'm not an expert but I think GPLv3 lets you do this because its not actually open source.

  GPLv3 isn't open source but "free software", what is what people mean by open source. So no it wouldn't let you that.
