Aura, would be a third form of health for players and select mobs. That would be a core feature and players would have it from the start. This would NOT be a potion effect, if it were it wouldn’t cover the same needs described below.
- This would cater to a need in the community for combat diversity, in a way the current game doesn't offer.
Aura would reduce the damage dealt by half when it is full; depending on the source of the damage; it may not reduce any damage.
After this the aura reduces the next hit by half a heart. Ideally this would apply for 3 hits; including the first. After it would need to recharge, and reset if damage is taken.
In order to reactivate a player's aura they would need to sleep through the night while it is at full charge, unless they regained it via a potion or respawn.
The things that bypass aura do not damage it but instead directly attack HP; 0 HP would still be death.
Lightning, tridents when used by a player (not mobs), firework rockets and enchants for weapons and tools that aren’t the sword or bow (for weapon diversity) could bypass aura. Splash /lingering potions damage aura, but drinking a potion doesn’t.
Tamed dogs, cats, and villagers would also have aura. This way your pets and villagers are more durable.
A gamerule to disable this would also be needed to please the community, but this would work best as enabled by default.
It doesn't need to be called "Aura", I just lacked a better name for it.
