Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Would have done an edit but there is a character limit.  I don't like that no one has actually challenged my argument by doing a quick Google search I found out that the largest demographic is that of 15-21 year old’s, which comprise a vast 43% of the player base. So just saying that Minecraft is a kids game and ignoring the idea when most of the players are older is just dismissive and how many under the age of 10 know how to even craft or the more advanced game play mechanics.

To all arguing that alcohol would be bad in a kids game, what about the killing and slaying of mobs/villagers/animals? Or playing with fire, burning stuff down and blowing things up with TNT?

I think being able to brew mead and the like would be an interresting thing added to the game, giving it both positive and negative sideeffects. Perhaps villagers could even want to drink it and become tipsy and walk funnily/tripping over their own feet.

That or as a juice and teas. But also you have some people who have created some r rated mods perhaps if wines not included in the game perhaps a mod suggestion with regulations. Few games I ay have the option of keeping it child friendly but also has the option to verify your age and pay additional for r rated. Again it's an good a idea and again a good point for it being a kid friendly game as well.

I think the idea of homebrewing in minecraft makes perfect sense and would be really cool.

The mechanics already exist in game; simply putting the ingredients into a brewing stand could be enough.

Alternatively, or additionally perhaps, I like the idea of introducing a new bock or two: glass demi-johns (carboy) and kegs, for example. These could be placeable blocks (which would look great for decorative buildings) but their function could be to take the fermented product (from the brewing stand above) and then age the product. When the product is ready, players could then use bottles on the block to get a refill,  or even copper horns when they are released (viking drinking competitions, anyone?).

The great thing about home-brewing is that it is relatively simple in terms of ingredients and a lot of the ingredients already exist in game, water, honey, sugar, apples, sweet berries, wheat...

The secret ingredient is yeast but in medieval times, before we knew how to manafacture it they used natually occuring yeast from not only the ingredients but also from the environment so I don't think it would be necessary to include.

Apart from age, the only other argument I can think of is that (if I am correct) Mojang have rejected anything to do with real world religion and acohol is against some religions, as well as it being illegal in some countries. Mojang try to make their game available worldwide for every country and this is why religion and religious beliefs are left alone. Adding alcohol to the game could alienate some of these cultures/countries.

This all said though, I really like the idea of drink brewing as opposed to just potion brewing. I'm sure there is a way they can implement it without offending anyone.

A suggestion I saw a while ago (won't take credit here) was to have a barrel like item that can store wheat, berries or honey in. After 15 in game days, what's inside will ferment into the appropriate drink.

In regards to effects. Drinking 2 within 2 minutes or so could give the nausea effect, just like the nether portal, but in a white or something instead of purple.

I hope this gets more momentum and Mojang actually consider it.
