I think this mob idea is perfect for a flower themed hostile mob. It is based on a real poisonous plant in the nightshade family.
Behavior: It is a hostile mob that hides among the many flowers in the flower forest. It spawns at night disguising itself as an ordinary flower, like the poppy or dandelion, and when approached by a player within a certain radius, It jumps to life! Maybe It can reach out vines to attack.
Effect: It should poison the player, since the real life counterpart is usually poisonous. Or maybe you could give it another effect instead.
Appearance: It is a humanoid creature composed of vines and leaves with a flower on its head, used for the purpose of deceiving its prey! It can have several variants-Thorny ones that poison, and different colored head flowers.
Location: It's primary habitat would be the flower forest, but perhaps it can have a small chance to spawn around any flowers that are in darkness, or just around some biomes that can grow flowers with a much smaller chance.
Drop Idea: It could drop a strange petal that could be used to brew a potion of sweet scent (or foul odor with a fermented spider eye). The potion of sweet scent would draw mobs attention to the effected mob, and undead would attack this mob, hating the sweet scent, while foul odor would do the opposite, causing undead to be passive to this mob for the duration, and to repel other mobs. (bosses not affected)
